The Alvor estuary is the best spot to learn kite boarding in the Algarve and thus is one of the stops in the professional kitesurfing world tour each year. The estuary itself is adjoined to the ocean and hence as well as a beautiful setting is also a safe one. Our kitesurfing courses are based on the standards of the British Kiteboarding Organization (BKSA) and the (IKO) We also provide a safety boat and guaranteed small groups and our aim is to give you maximum time on the water and get you progressing as quickly as possible.
For all beginner courses you will watch an instructional DVD before the lesson that will basically give you a heads up on what to expect from your first lesson, explaining everything from kite setup, equipment, launching the kite, body dragging, staying upwind and turning. The DVD is one hour long and the aim is to help you progress through your course quickly.
During the 3 hour course you can expect to learn about location and conditions; equipment and terminology; kite setup; launching and landing; and body dragging.
The 7 hour course includes all the above plus body dragging upwind and board recovery; water relaunch and self rescue; waterstarts and first runs.
The 10 hour course includes all the above as well as riding and staying upwind and learning to change direction (turning).
The 15 hour course, the most complete course, teaches you everything including how to jump; toe side riding or carving turns; and supervision for safety.
Our kitesurf lessons and courses will cover you no matter what previous experience you might have. Don’t worry if you have kited a bit before, we’ll just pick up from where you have left off.
